When a case involving a local gangster gets personal, PC William Jackson faces a difficult choice. Kate has an interview at the station and John regrets his night of passion with Rachel.

In his dealings with a local tramp, PC Clifton discovers his compassionate side. Following the failed raid on Stenga, John starts to self-combust.

Some uncomfortable truths emerge when Inspector Black's husband is brought into the station. Robert and Lucy are on the hunt for a vigilante attacking doggers.

With the decision on the CID job imminent, Neil and Kelly's relationship is put to the test. John and Luke investigate a possible race attack on a local solicitor.
