One Sunday morning in Catania, Bruno Costa, an employee of a telephone company, goes to the house of Anna Zanchi, the woman he is madly in love with, and finds her butchered corpse. Afraid of being accused of the murder, Bruno runs away. The police commissioner Giacomo Chimenti arrives at the crime scene and is entrusted with the investigation. Based on the homonymous story by Andrea Camilleri.

2. Teresa's lair

In Naples Luigi Reale, a young carabiniere, investigates a robbery involving Marco Portosalvo's runaway gangster, now hiding in the house of his neighbor Teresa. Based on the story of the same name by Diego De Silva.

6. Death of a confidant

Giulio Campagna is a policeman with a long experience and not always polite manners. Following an investigation that went badly he swore to himself that he would never again use information from confidants. But the boss gives him another such mission.

7. The last gag

Samuele was a famous comedian. He and Luca, his partner on the scene, had a moment of great popularity. Then Samuele started drinking. Caterina, his wife, left him for Luca. Over the years, Samuele has a small restaurant. But one evening Luca is assassinated... Based on the story of the same name by Sandrone Dazieri.
